Dear Dale:

This past year has been the most exhilarating time of my life. Your competent staff including Susie Murphy and Bill Oakley made my job so much easier. I attribute much of our success to all the PGA/NIKE TOUR personnel attending our event especially Jim Duncan, Chuck Walker, Chris Moser and Matt Delaney. Their input was invaluable and they were such a delight for my staff to work with. Hints and ideas from other tournaments was also a factor in our performance, therefore, I want to share someone that enhanced our special events beyond our wildest imagination. This show fits our NIKE TOUR vision for exposing golf to juniors while making it fun to learn the game.

As you probably have already heard from NIKE/PGA personnel attending our event, the 1997 Nike Inland Empire Open Junior Golf Extravaganza was without a doubt the most exciting ever. “Divot the Clown” (aka PGA golf professional Kevin Compare), led our Junior Golf Extravaganza to the best clinic/exhibition we have ever seen. Divot arrived in Pepsi’s Mountain Dew helicopter. They landed on the driving range to a reception of over 300 super-charged kids. He proceeded with a wonderful 45 minute trick shot and golf exhibition. We have never seen so many smiles during an event. His hilarious audience interaction in only surpassed but his unbelievable shot making ability. These pumped up kids were then treated to hands on instructions from Divot and Nike/PGA Professionals. The following day, Divot conducted a clinic for an adult audience. We toyed with the idea of letting him conduct a clinic as Kevin the PGA Pro instead of Divot the Clown but are extremely glad we decided on the clown. I think the adults enjoyed it just as much as the kids since they knew first hand about the difficulty of his trick shots. He then played in our Celebrity Skins Game where he was paired with Ryan Howison and raised an additional $400 for our local Special Olympics. Divot’s fee is extremely reasonable and a great value for any event. By the way, the media loved the show and featured Divot in a large, full color front-page picture and headlines. On a personal note, Kevin Compare is just as wonderful on the inside as he is on the outside. His heart is bigger than his giant shoes, huge golf bag and mega-long driver combined.

I highly recommend him for any NIKE TOUR or PGA event. Even though I have already shared this with my fellow NIKE TOUR Directors, I wanted to make you aware of Divot’s impact on our community. He can be reached at (561) 283-1240. Thanks again for all your past help and I hope to work with you again in the future.

With Warm Regards,

Debra R. Hoffman
